QUALIFIED SUPERVISION
FOR REGISTERED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR INTERNS IN FLORIDA
Welcome Mental Health Counselor Interns!
If you are nearing graduation or have already completed your Masters in Mental Health Counseling program, I would love to help you begin your journey toward licensure. I offer Qualified Supervision for Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns in Florida. Interns will be able to clock hours needed for licensure, as well as grow and develop their clinical skills. You will benefit from not only my 20+ years of experience providing psychotherapy, but my supportive approach, deep knowledge base, and careful attention to all required state guidelines. Individual and group supervision sessions available, at the following rates:
Individual Supervisory Sessions - $100
Group Supervisory Sessions - $75
Below are listed thorough details regarding Qualified Supervision, including general Board requirements and information specific to our Supervision work together:
Supervision Requirements
Interns need 1500 client face to face hours requiring 100 hours of supervision hours over a minimum of 100 weeks. The state requires 1 hr/supervision for Registered Interns facilitating 15 hours of face-to-face psychotherapy with clients each week (equivalent to full-time), or 1 hr/supervision biweekly for less than 15 hours of face to face psychotherapy with clients each week (part-time). The Licensing Board does not allow supervision to be completed in less than 100 weeks, regardless of how many clients you work with weekly. Generally, it takes 2-4 years to finish supervision.
We will meet for individual sessions (up to 2 supervisees) for at least 50% of the time we meet, and group sessions (3 or more supervisees) for the other 50% of our time together. For more information on how this works, see the 491 Board Rules and Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling webpage.

Helpful Facts:
Considerations in choosing on-site or off-site Supervision: When you are hired for your first counseling position, that position may include clinical supervision. You may want to consider working with an off-site supervisor for several reasons, most importantly because you will maintain security and control over your documented hours if for any reason you leave that position. On-job supervisors will understandably prioritize the company they are working for if their is any disagreement or discrepancy.
Registered Interns need to buy and maintain Liability/Malpractice Insurance. Interns are typically offered reduced rates and there are several insurors to choose from.
Once you are registered, your business cards, website, all marketing materials, and email signature should reflect the phrase “Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern.” No other terminology is allowed by the State of Florida. Once you are licensed, you may begin using the acronym “RMHCI". For reasons unknown, only licensed professionals may use acronyms for their titles.
